25"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life"?
28"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
I worry. I'm a worrier. I worry about a lot of things a lot of the time. I've struggled with this for years. Matthew Ch 6 has had a hold of my heart this week, and I'm excited about that!
I try to pass off my worry as wisdom sometimes, telling myself it's good to think ahead of possibilities and be prepared. I like to know what's coming up, I like to be ready. Chris and I, though, have been in a season of cluelessness (is that a word?). We don't know why we're in BG, when we'll get to leave, where we'll go when we finally get out, or what we'll do from that point on. So I've been worried about the future--about the unknown.
I've long feared the unknown, but I really don't want that for my life or for my family. I want to live a life in which my children grow up seeing faith physically exercised before them. We've seen God provide in miraculous ways, for us and for others. We've had a roof over our heads, food to eat, and clothes on our backs. I need to remember that He knows the desires of our hearts, and if we're seeking His will to be our will, we'll have not only what we need but more than we ever knew we wanted.
I'm praying for a renewed mind--a mindset different from this world--and focusing on this thought: "Do Not Worry"
*sigh*

This is an awesome lesson & something your brother & I are also learning right now. I think my past has helped me not to be a worrier. I just had to let things go as a child, because there were so many terrifying circumstances that I simply had no control over. Sometimes, in our current circumstance, worry tries to sneak in...especially concerning our dog & moving with her & how she is going to get along with Bandit or Harley & if she is going to be freaked out & afraid of everything (she is very skittish & not good with change)...how long will we have to live under someone elses roof before we find a home & a job..where will we live? What kind of job will he have? What will the home school laws be? etc etc...there is SO much I could worry about, but just thinking of any ONE of those things seems too daunting for ME to handle alone..so I just give it to God. He is going to take care of all of it & I won't be helping Him out by worrying. :)
Thanks for the extra encouragement!
I needed this. Thanks!
