We Found Nemo!

We got our first family pet today! The first pet Chris and I ever shared was a turtle named Tertius (Biblical). I actually found the turtle before we were married, so since we lived separately we shared "custody" of Tertius and took turns caring for him!

Then we had an awesome cat we named Buckeye, who died just a couple days after his 1st birthday (yes, I threw a party for his big day w/ a cake and everything...we had 30 guests! It was sad to lose him just to illness shortly after.)

Next we had a rotten cat we named Gizmo (yeah, like the Gremlin!). We had to get rid of him before Kyleigh was born because while some cats behave around babies, we didn't trust him around our baby at all!

Since having children, we've not had anymore pets. But today I got brave and took the kids to the pet store this afternoon for a fun time of browsing. (Pics from cell phone)
That resulted in their insistence that we take Daddy back when he got off work...and I knew he'd love that!
Once we took Chris back to the store, he was totally on board with getting the whole fish starter kit. We had discussed it earlier this week 'cuz my parents told us how they got my lil' sister a fish last weekend. We opted to go the same route as they, with a small tank (w/ rocks and fish food to start us out), plus a cute tree, and a Beta fish. We're told these fish are not too dirty/messy in their environments and easy upkeep--with 2 small kids and another on the way, that sounded perfect to us!
Oh, the kids named him Nemo, since they just recently watched the movie Finding Nemo on Netflix! It was either Nemo or Dori, and understanding that a boy should have a boy's name...well, Nemo it is!
